In an ever-changing and chaotic world, how often do we question God’s presence? At times, it feels like the flames of despair are aflame, and all seems lost. However, a closer look at an ancient biblical narrative offers a beacon of hope during untenable circumstances. Today, we’re going to look at the story of Esther, an orphaned immigrant who became a queen. Her story can reaffirm our faith in God’s sublime purpose during the most challenging times. We can look on how Esther rises in the bible.

As the story goes, Esther was an orphaned immigrant from a nation universally despised. She was forced to enter a national beauty contest, the reward – marrying the king! The catch – this meant becoming the king’s property and giving up the opportunity to marry for love and have a family. Furthermore, the king was a far cry from an ideal suitor, known more for his drunk and impulsive behavior, rather than his leadership. Against these odds, the humble, beautiful and resilient Esther entered the tumultuous contest, and her story emerged in the sacred biblical texts, the Bible. Esther’s saga  and how Esther rises is packed with moral dilemmas, most remarkably, the absence of God’s mention. Nonetheless, you cannot miss seeing divine fingerprints inspiring and providing hope to millions for centuries.

Esther was more than just a contestant in a beauty contest; she was a symbol of faith and resilience in the face of adversity. Her life situation seemed hopeless, but it was far from it. Her life mirrored a fire lily, a beautiful plant rising amidst the destructive force of a wildfire. Much like these plants rise invigoratingly post a fire, Esther’s journey was remarkably inspiring, rising in the face of calamity. When Esther was crowned queen, she had no real power but held a significant influence over the kingdom. This was God’s strategic placement, allowing her to play a heroic role when her people faced extinction. Esther’s story is a powerful demonstration of God’s ability to craft something beautiful from the ashes of despair.

The narrative of Esther unfolds the theme of divine providence where God works mysteriously, orchestrating events behind the scenes for a greater purpose. Even during dire circumstances, like the ones Esther found herself in, we must remember that God can be trusted. Esther’s story stands as a beacon of trust for all of us who inventively question God’s purpose for our lives when faced with colossal challenges. Throughout history, God has proven time and again that He delights in using ordinary people in His extraordinary story. Esther’s story is a powerful reminder for us; when all hope appears to be lost, God is still weaving His victorious narrative for us. It’s a powerful reminder that God can be trusted even when the situations around seem impossible.

The story of Esther highlights that there is a divine purpose underpinning our life’s events. It might seem like the world – or even your world – is spinning out of control, but God is working on a grand design. The narrative embodies hope and resilience, attesting to the faith that even when the tides are against you, and you are powerless, God has the power to work out good for those who trust Him. It serves as an invaluable inspiration to those grappling with severe trials today, encouraging endurance, humility, faith, and, most significantly, trust in God’s sovereignty. We can all learn a lot if we pay attention to how Esther rises.
