Why we exist
The mission is simple. The work is lifelong.
We want people to know Jesus, grow to become more like Him, and use the gifts God has given them to serve others. That mission shapes what we teach, how we gather, and how we serve our communities.

Our name comes from the Bereans in Acts 17, who received God’s Word eagerly and examined the Scriptures carefully. We want that same spirit to shape our church.

Jesus is at the center of our faith, our worship, and our hope. Everything we do points people toward knowing and following Him.
Grounded in Scripture
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and the foundation for what we believe, how we live, and how we grow.

Every Jesus follower has a part to play. We equip people to use their gifts in the church and bring the love of Jesus to their communities.
Our story
A love for Jesus, the Bible, and one another.
Berean’s story began in 1966 when 17 people from many denominational backgrounds gathered in a home to study Scripture. Their shared love for Jesus, the Bible, and one another was stronger than their differences.
In July 1968, 50 people gathered for the first service of the newly formed Berean Bible Church. From a former automobile dealership in Greene, the church grew into a regional, non-denominational family serving multiple communities across Central New York.
New campuses followed in Cincinnatus, Bainbridge, Hillcrest, and Norwich. The locations have changed and the church has grown, but the desire to know God’s Word and see lives transformed by Jesus remains just as strong.
What we believe

Our faith and practice are grounded in the Scriptures and centered on God’s work of rescue and restoration through Jesus Christ.
One God
We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who created us, loves us, and invites us into life with Him.
God’s Word
We believe the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and are the foundation for our faith and practice.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus lived without sin, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and reigns as Lord.
Grace Through Faith
We believe salvation is God’s gift, received by grace through personal faith in Jesus Christ—not earned by our effort.
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, make disciples, care for people, and share the gospel.
Life on Mission
We believe every Christian is called and equipped by the Holy Spirit to grow, serve, and bear witness to Jesus.
