Week 2: The Face of Easter Sunday

The day Jesus died, he was the Scapegoat for our sin. The day he rose, he was the King of Heaven and Earth. The events we remember this weekend are the foundation of our hope. But it wasn’t always this way for Jesus’ Followers. In fact, they would have recoiled from the term “Good Friday.” From their perspective, it was most certainly NOT good. When Jesus died, their hope died with him. They mourned that weekend. And early on Sunday morning, a few women from this scattered and motley band of grieving followers headed to his grave to finish preparing his body.

What they found shocked them to their core — and not only flipped the script on the whole Easter story, it flipped the script on our story, too!
