Division is everywhere.
From politics to relationships, our culture is divided like never before in our lifetime. Rage, fear, suspicion, and slander dominate the headlines and the nightly news. Its effects are seeping into every corner of our lives. But in the midst of this division, followers of Jesus have been called to walk a different path. “Follow God’s example, as dearly loved children,” Paul once wrote to a church wrestling with social and ethnic divisions, “and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us…” Behind his counsel was the conviction we need today: In a fractured world, nothing is more powerful than gospel-shaped community.
Discussion Guides & Message Wraps
Week 1: Unity at Home
Deuteronomy 30 reveals an important principle for unity: one relationship is the foundation for all other relationships. There are no shortcuts. Our pursuit of community must go through this relationship or it will be fragile and brittle, and it will ultimately let us down.
Week 2: Unity in the Community
The racial tension is America seems to be getting worse. But the more our culture tries to fix it, the more things seem to spiral out of control. Is it possible that there’s a simple cure for racism? Could there be a solution that tackles the roots of racism and exposes race itself as a myth? This Sunday we discover where modern racism comes from and learn a simple truth that you won’t hear anywhere else except God’s Word.
Week 3: Unity in Group
Jesus boils religion down to a simple command in John 13:34 – “Love one another.” While it’s simple, it’s challenging to focus on others. We are often too busy and isolated. Sunday we look at how to live a life focused on God & others. And we encourage people to be part of a connect group and experience that life is truly better connected. In groups, we learn how to truly love one another!
